Crystal Dragon (FDS) [Suishou no Dragon]
Mute's English Patch (Version 1.0)
http://mute.vblank.net/

The interstellar shuttle your friends were on has
mysteriously disappeared, so you've flown out to
investigate. Before you can find them, however, you're
attacked by a fiercely territorial dragon. You only survive
thanks to the timely intervention of a crystal-eyed woman
who warns you not to pull any more stunts. So begins Crystal
Dragon, over the course of which you'll pull basically
nothing BUT reckless stunts in an attempt to find out what
happened to your friends.

You get around in the game with the standard set of
adventure game commands, represented here by a row of icons
at the top of the screen. To perform the currently
highlighted command, press the A button. To switch commands,
hold B and press left or right till you're at the one you
want. For reference, here are the individual icons:

  MOVE (arrows) :

Once you select Move, a white arrow will pop up
somewhere in the window. To follow it, press A again. To
choose a different direction, press B. Some areas have
only one way out, others have more than four -- either
way the B button will let you cycle through your
    options.

  LOOK (eye) :

Area descriptions appear automatically, but if you want
to investigate a specific object, move the cursor over
    it and then use Look.

  TAKE (hand)

  TALK (mouth)

  USE (fist) :

When you select Use, the first item in your inventory
will show up in the text box. Scroll through your items
by pressing up or down, then press A when you've arrived
    at the correct one.

  OPEN (door)

  OPERATE (button) :

You won't need the Operate command very often, but try
it out on any machinery you find.

  DROP (trash) :

Drop can mean either PLACE an item in a certain spot, or
    GIVE it to someone.

  SAVE / LOAD (disk) :

The game will let you continue as often as you like, so
the only reason to save is if you're turning it off.
Exception: there is an action you can take, late in the
game, to lock yourself out of victory, and, at that
point, no amount of continues will help you.

With most of these, you first have to select the object of
the command by moving the cursor around. If you're shooting
somebody, for example, be sure to aim before you select
Use->Pistol. Also, the start button will cancel an action:
if you're getting ready to use the pistol and you realize
you haven't aimed, just press start. This also works with
movement and the disk operations.

Other than that, you're ready to start playing. Good luck!

			   * * *

Pretty much any FDS emulator will load the game, although
some of 'em -- notably Loopynes and Famtasia -- have
problems during the disk swapping routines. For details on
obtaining, running, or patching the disk image, see your
local emulation site.

This patch was created with UIPS, Hex Workshop, and some
perl scripts I wrote. Thingy and Tile Layer Pro were a great
help in identifying relevant data early on, and Nesten's
debugger came in handy as well. Thanks not only to the
authors of those programs but to everyone whose freely
offered utilities and resources continue to make this
romhacking thing possible.
